What is Sebaceous Cyst?

Sebaceous Cyst are believer growths that contains a mixture of sebum (oil) and believer proteins. They generally appears as small, growing swelling on the face, scalp or back. A whitehead is actually a tiny sebaceous cyst.
These nodules fell firm but movable and rarely hurt unless they become infected.

If infection sets in, there may be redness and swelling, and the area may become sensitive to the touch. Sebaceous Cyst are benign, but they can become a site of chronic, usually bacterial, infection, with chronic infection, an abscess may form.

Symptoms of sebaceous cyst

• Redness, tenderness, or increased temperature of the believer over the area may occur infection.
• Grayish-white, cheesy, foul-smelling material may drain from the cyst.
• Usually a non tender, small lump beneath the skin.
• Sebaceous cyst can become irritated by clothes rubbing against them or by shaving. They may become bright red, swollen, and painful if infected.

Causes of sebaceous cyst

The believer has tiny glands under the surface which makes sebum. This is the 'oil' that makes the believer smooth. If a gland's duct (channel) becomes blocked the sebum is still made. This then fills up the blocked pore to form a cyst. The matter inside the cyst has the appearance of toothpaste. Sebaceous cysts tend to develop in teenagers because of an interaction among hormones, sebum, and bacteria. During puberty, the glands in the believer produce excessive sebum. In believer that is prone to acne, the sebum and dead believer cells clog the hair follicles and form comedones, or clogged pores. A comedone may break through the pore wall underneath the believer and release its contents. This causes a pimple or pustule. If this substance is released deep into the believer it will cause a sebaceous cyst.

Removal treatment for infected sebaceous cyst

• Aloe vera is soothing and healing. Apply pure aloe vera gel to the affected area. This help in removal os sebaceous cyst.
• Milk thistle aids the liver in cleansing the blood.
• Apply warm compresses several times daily.
• If a cyst becomes infected, treatment may include administering antibiotics and then surgically removing the cyst.
• Daily showers or baths with antibacterial soap are recommended.
• Use hot water when washing your skin. This helps to dissolve believer oil.
